That sound coming from North Wilkesboro Speedway today wasn't your ears fooling you. As we reported earlier today, instructional drivers from the Buck Baker Racing School were testing the track surface. They hope to expand here. Buck Baker Racing School owner Jeff Bowyer, says it looks good. The track surface isn't as bad as he's raced on before, he says, and the facility needs some paint, but the pavement seemed solid -- easing their biggest concern. Charles Collins, who is leasing the track from Bruton Smith, said he is hoping to get the cracks in the track patched and paint the walls. Collins also hopes he can hold a late model race at the historic track before the summer is over..
